What is an academic transcript?
Definition
An academic transcript is an official record of a student's courses or subjects, their results and grades, and often their attendance and standing, issued by a school, university or exam body.
What it includes
- Student and institution details
- Each course or subject, with term or year
- Marks or grades, and any credits
- Overall result, rank or class where used
- Clear notes for absent, excused or withheld results
Getting it right
Errors come from copying marks between systems. Generating transcripts from the same released marks used everywhere else removes that step.

- How should absences show?
- As words (absent, excused), never as zero.
